When creating an email there is a plugin to Decrypt / Encrypt the message content. Above you can see once you have typed your email you simply click the icon, 3rd toolbar down in this case and you are presented with a box to either enter a password or to use a digital certificate.

Once a password is entered or a digital certificate used click OK and the message is encrypted.

When the recipient(s) receives email and open it, they then click the icon 3rd toolbar down in this case. They are then presented with a request to enter their password. If using digital certificates the email will need no authentication prompt as the certificate will be recognised on the computer.
