Securing Data On A Memory Stick (Flash Drive) With Secure Hive
| Take your Memory Stick (Flash Drive) |
Step 1
| Right mouse click on document or file you wish to protect when you come to add it to your Memory Stick (Flash Drive) |
Step 2
| Highlight and left mouse click on Add to Secure Hive |
Step 3
| Tick box, Make self extracting.exe |
Step 4
| Enter a password of your choice and confirm password then click OK |
Step 5
| The hive was made successfully click OK and close Secure Hive shell. |
Step 6
| The hive icon contains the Word document highlighted above the hive icon. |
Step 7
| Put your memory stick or flash drive device in to your USB port |
Step 8
| Right mouse click on hive, click on “send to” in this case send to “removable drive (f)” |
Step 9
| Open my computer and ensure hive has been sent. In this case open "f drive." |
Step 10
| The hive is secured on the memory stick or flash drive. This hive can be opened on any PC with Windows 98-2000-NT-XP-Vista and 7, a USB port and MS Word, as in this case it was a Word doc that was protected. |
Step 11
| To open, double click on hive icon, this will allow you to enter your password in to the clear box shown. |
Step 12
| Once password is entered Secure Hive will ask you to extract the file to a folder or drive out of the hive, in this case I will extract to the memory stick or "drive f" so you can see the hive and the Word doc together. As you can see also you can browse if you wish to extract to a folder on your PC, you can also tick box open folder after extracted. |
Result
| As you can see the Word document has been extracted and ready to be opened, also while extracting Secure Hive asks if you would like to delete the hive after extracting, in this case I chose not to. |

You can communicate with all versions. but you must install the correct version e.g. you have Office 2007 your colleague has Office 2002 You would have 1.3.02 installed your colleague would have 1.3.01 installed
